New Tales of game to be announced

http://www.bandainamcogames.co.jp/cs/list/taleschannel/newtalesof/

Yay. I really don't like how they're announcing a new game or port so soon after Xillia was released. Too soon.

Update: It turned out to be a Vita version of Tales of Innocence. A re-imagining of it. But there's more than just one Tales game. Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave is a Dynasty Warriors type action game. Surprising.

Thoughts on the Tales of Vesperia PS3 demo

Aww...isn't this a wonderful scene? <3

I played through the PS3 Tales of Vesperia demo today, and I've got say that it was pretty...interesting.

The demo skips the opening movie and it takes you directly to the start screen, which meant that I didn't get to hear Ring a Bell. =( I pressed start and I was underway.

Instead of starting from the beginning of the game the demo takes place in the Forest of Keiv Moc. The party, consisting of Yuri, Estelle, Rita, Repede, and the PS3 exclusive character Patty Fleur are all level 25. Raven is also with the party but he remains an NPC throughout the whole demo. You get plenty of items to play around with, which consists of mostly gels and other random items.

There are plenty of opportunities for combat, which means that players can spend enough time playing around with Patty. Not in that way. >_> Although her panties are visible during one of her victory poses.

Despite the fact that Patty's in your party throughout the entire demo, you don't actually meet up with her until the middle. Umm...paradoxes FTW? Yuri rescues Patty from being assulted by a flying enemy, then picks her up then drops her. Way to go Yuri. >_> Patty returns the favor by beating the crap out of a looming mantis soon after.

The demo continues on with some more encounters and even a Mimic along the way? Yay? The final boss of the demo is the main boss of the Forest of Kiev Moc, Gigalarva. After its defeat after a long and hard fought battle you get the usual results screen and then a black background with the words "Coming Soon" on top in white text with a small icon of Repede on the top right corner of it.

All in all it was a pretty good demo. Its average playtime is around 30-40 minutes, so it kept my attention for a good and short period of time. I only played as Yuri so I cannot say whether or not Patty is good under manual control. She did do a decent job as a CPU.

I may import the PS3 version of ToV when it comes out since I've never gotten a real chance to play through it. And it's a Tales game, which means that I must play it. :P

Tales of VS. Full Roster Revealed

Majinken!

So a Tales of the Tempest character got into the game as a playable character yet Marta and Zelos were excluded? I had hope since Zelos has done very well in the Taleschannel character rankings and Marta didn't do such a bad job in last year's either. But it was not meant to be. There is no justice in this world. T_T

Oh well. At least I'll be able to play as Yuri, Judith, Luke, Tear, Anise and others. I'm still anticipating this game since it looks so awesome and you can't go wrong with a 2D fighter in the style of the Tales series.

Also, sorry for not updating the Golden Church often. I've been busy with other things.

Best. Week. EVER!

Guess who I got an e-mail from now? NISA! Somehow, someway I've done it. Again. I'm actually a...*gasp*...WINNER in their body pillow contest! Oh yes. Oh hell yes. And my work is going to *possibly* be featured in one of NISA's future newsletters. I don't think I've ever been involved in something quite like this. XD First the contest describing what I would do with the pillow, now this. And I'll be going to Ohayocon this weekend if I can somehow find a ride sometime today. More awesomeness! Sadly I won't be bringing my Kaito cosplay along with me to the event as it has yet to be finished due to lack of materials and access to them, but I may bring along my Zelos Wilder for yet another ride. Whee ~

I never imagined this in my wildest dreams. What has started as possibly one of the worst times in my entire life has turned into one of the best weeks in my entire life.

OMG LIEK TENMA POSTS IN HIZ LJ LIK EVRY 5 SEKS LULZ

Hai.

I posted this in my Tales Brigade blog, but I'll post this here as well. Behold...what I'm thankful for in the Tales series! ^_^;

I want to thank Namco Bandai of America for giving us Americans the opportunity to play games from the Tales series, and for recently localizing Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. Tales is a very underrated and overlooked series here in the states that deserves more attention than it's getting. It has a unique battle system and each game has characters and a storyline that sucks you in and keeps you close. Most importantly, there is one word that describes them: fun. And that's what a game should always be. I just wish that Bamco would advertise the game much better. I mean, Soul Calibur IV got tons of attention. Why not Dawn of the New World?

I'm so glad that I was introduced to Tales of Symphonia on a cold fall morning in 2004. If there has been a video game series that has defined my life over the past 4+ years, it's Tales. Tales is the one thing that jumpstarted my interest in JRPGs and Japanese culture in general, and for that I'm thankful. <3

Undine, I want to thank you for setting up this community. I know that I'm not very well known around here, but I'm so glad that you've set up such a peaceful place for the Tales community. I don't care if I buy anything from the shop or how high my grade will be come Feburary, I'm just glad to see that there are so many Tales fans here in America. ^^; For those who have friended me here (Rar-kun, Ishtar, and of course, Undine), thanks. <3

Finally, I want to thank Okumura Daigo. For creating Marta. Ah Marta, how I love thee. <3 *Gets hit by Raine's chalk* But seriously, you, Fujishima Kosuke, Inomata Mutsumi, and all of the artists involved. Your art has been a driving force for me to be a loyal Tales fan and has kept me drawing to this day in hope that one day I'll be as good as you. For that, I thank you.

Keep it up Bamco! Innocence and Hearts for America!

Note the last sentence. Come on Namco Bandai of America, I'm pretty sure that Tales of Innocence and Tales of Hearts will have a pretty good fanbase over here. Plus we want more Tales damnit.

If you do localize Hearts, then please don't localize just the CG version. Beryl's smile has creeped me out enough already.

Merry Christmas (2 days late)

I had no internet access yesterday, so this is a late entry.

I don't remember any Christmas morning that was shorter than this one in my entire life. I swear that we opened all our gifts within 30 minutes. It took us three times as long in the past. That's what happens when family problems come and bite you in the ass. I finally got my own digital camera, a Kodak ZD710 to be exact. It's much better than the old one that my parents never use. I also got a 2GB memory card, and an 8" flat screen LCD monitor for displaying them. In addition, I received a four USB connector hub (I now have five free USB ports on my laptop), something that goes on the bottom of my boots to prevent me from falling flat on the ground (k >_>), the Gamecube version of the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (which I'll start on tomorrow if I have the time), Fate/stay Night volume 1 w/ the box (It's pretty), FSN volume 6 w/ the clock (the clock is pretty standard, but I like Saber), a $15 iTunes gift card, a $25 iTunes gift card, a $25 gift card, and $50 cash. Not bad for such a smaller display than what I've been accustomed to.

We went to my brother's house for dinner. I was in no mood to eat as I wanted to work and I had already ate so much at home. So I sat on the couch and watched South Park on and off until we went home.

I don't know why, but this December 25th didn't feel like Christmas.

Finally, the Tales game that I've been waiting for since the Abyss came out in Japan! The first character kind of looks like Tear, so maybe it's a sequel? It could be, but it seems more like an original game than anything else. :( Can't complain with that though. ^_^

27 December 2006

Christmas day was quite the goodness. I finally got a guitar. It's just a small acoustic. As of right now I suck, but that's quite expected as I'm just your average beginner. The majority of my other gifts were accessories and spare parts for my guitar. Other than that, I got DDR Supernova, a dance pad, and Tales of Destiny Remake for the PS2. Yay.

My swap disc kit finally arrived yesterday, and I started playing Atelier Iris: Grand Fantasm. So far I've only started on the first mission. The game engine, including the active cost card battle system, resembles Eternal Mana 2. Not that I'm complaining.

I'm currently in Daath in Tales of the Abyss. The party found Fon Master Ion there, and found out that the chaos that has been active within the Sephiroth is not in the Score. Meanwhile, Mohs and Dist wants to restart the war despite the collapse of the Rugnica Plains into the Qliphoth. On their way out, the party runs into them and gets captured along with Noelle. They are taken to a place that looks like the Tartarus. Luke thinks that he going to be executed since he isn't mentioned in the Score. I'll find out soon enough. I also finished Chapter 2 of Disgaea 2. Finally.

I'm going to Arrim's annual Christmas party now. It's an insomniac party (It lasts until the next morning), and we're going to Red Lobster for dinner. Yay. It'll be nice to see AJ and company again.

Oh, and I want puni! I don't care if it's pink or not, I need puni! ;_;

Blah

Being a college student, I am very well aware that final exams are coming up. Wednesday is going to be nothing but hell. Total hell. I still need to do that gigantic portrait tomorrow.

I wonder what brother Snipe's doing right now. I haven't seen him since the Tenma bash, and the last video that he posted on YouTube is over a month old. That doesn't matter though as Hand Making Development shall finally be together after the fall semester is over! :poorly placed fake laugh x3:

I'm making slow progress on Tales of the Abyss. I'm in the Deo Pass struggling to beat Regret (Regret, Legretta, same person). It's either that I suck, I'm horribly underleveled for the area, or both. This is all on hard may I add. I really want to play AI: Grand Fantasm, but I do not currently possess the resources to do so, as in no Japanese PS2, mod chip, or swap disc. x(

Hyper levels rising. Need sleep.
